Football: Illini Defense's Henry is an 'Impressive Prospect'

Henry, a former four-star recruit, has shown flashes of brilliance in his first two seasons in Champaign.

Aaron Henry, a redshirt sophomore defensive end for the Illinois Fighting Illini football team, is an 'impressive prospect' according to 247Sports.

247Sports put out their list of the top 10 most impressive prospects on the Illini roster for 2023 and Henry came in at No. 7.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Henry has played in 20 games and made 10 starts over the past two seasons for Illinois.

  • In 2022, he recorded 29 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
  • Henry also forced one fumble and recovered another.

According to 247Sports, Henry is a 'disruptive force' who has the potential to be a 'star' in the Big Ten Conference.

Here is what 247Sports had to say about Henry:

  • "Henry is a physical specimen with a rare combination of size, strength and athleticism," 247Sports wrote.
  • "He has the potential to be a dominant force on the defensive line and could be one of the best players in the Big Ten if he continues to develop."

Henry will be a key player for the Illini defense in 2023.

He is expected to start at defensive end and will be counted on to provide a consistent pass rush.

If Henry can continue to develop, he has the potential to be a star for the Illini and one of the best defensive players in the Big Ten.
