Bolton Blasts Trump, Calls for Accountability

Ex-National Security Adviser Demands Consequences

Calls for Investigations, Criminal Charges

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on former President Donald Trump, calling for accountability and consequences for his actions.

"Trump's behavior was a gross dereliction of duty and a betrayal of the American people," Bolton said in a strongly worded statement. "He must be held responsible for his actions."

Bolton, who served as Trump's national security adviser from April 2018 to September 2019, said that Trump's actions "undermined our national security, our democratic system, and the rule of law."

He called for a thorough investigation of Trump's conduct, including his alleged obstruction of justice, campaign finance violations, and incitement of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Bolton also urged the Department of Justice to consider criminal charges against Trump, saying that "no one is above the law."

He concluded by saying that "Trump must be held accountable for his actions. We cannot let him escape justice. The future of our democracy depends on it."
