Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth to Star in George Miller's 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga'

The highly anticipated spinoff of the 'Mad Max' franchise has finally found its lead actors.

Anya Taylor-Joy will play the titular Furiosa, while Chris Hemsworth will join her as a mysterious character named Dementus.

As previously reported, the film, set as a prequel to 'Mad Max: Fury Road', will focus on the origin story of Furiosa, the fierce warrior and Imperator Furiosa played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 film. Tom Burke and Alyla Browne are also set to star in supporting roles.

The film will be directed by George Miller, who co-wrote it with Nico Lathouris. Miller is best known for directing the original 'Mad Max' trilogy as well as 'Fury Road', which was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $378 million worldwide and winning six Academy Awards.

Production on 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' is expected to begin in 2023, with a release date set for 2024.
